The New Hampshire State House

The New Hampshire State House, the oldest State Capital in which a legislature meets in its original chambers. The building was constructed between 1816 and 1819 by Stuart J. Park of Groton, MA., who also
built the first New Hampshire Prison. Park's assistant was Levi Brigham of Fitzwilliam, who helped to con-
struct Boston's Quincy Market. The State House was designed by Albe Cady. It originally consisted of a Federal-style pedimented central section with wings on either side.
